Cosulich research collection, ca. 1928-1952.

Summary: Research notes and articles by Bernice Cosulich concerning topics such as the Colorado River water allocations, Tohono O'odham Indians, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Lewis W. Douglas, and Tucson's historic sites and pioneers. Much of the historic site materials were gathered from AHS library resources but Cosulich's gathering of the information with citations to the original source may be valuable to some researchers. Also, there are notes from an interview with pioneer Harry Drachman about early Tucson businesses, homes, people and a visiting circus. Other notes are present with interviews George Chambers conducted with local pioneers. Notes on historic sites include topics such as military plaza, Little Eye Springs, Overland stages, the Wedge, Levin's Garden, Los Reales ghost town, Silver Lake, Fort Lowell, and Governor's Corner, and more. Tohono O'dham materials include a 1941 program from the Indian fair and rodeo, extracts of 1919-1927 concerning a Supreme Court case about the pueblo of Santa Rosa, and a book of legends "Awotahm Ha Ahga" by Ruth Evelyn Jones. Also present is a reminiscent speech "The Experiences of a Correspondent," about famous people she met and wrote about through her work including Erskine Caldwell, Margaret Bourke-White, Alfred Eisenstadt, Martha Holmes, Dmitri Kessel, and Andreas Feininger.
